Chelsea Revive Interest in Victor Osimhen as January Move Looms

Chelsea have reignited their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, making him a top priority ahead of the January transfer window. The Blues came close to signing Osimhen from Napoli during the summer, but negotiations fell through over personal terms.

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, was excluded from Napoli’s squad by manager Antonio Conte due to his desire to leave the club, leading to his season-long loan in Turkey. However, the loan deal includes a break clause, allowing Osimhen to leave in January if his €75 million (£62.8 million) release clause is triggered—a significantly lower fee than the €120 million Napoli demanded in the summer, making the deal more attainable for Chelsea.

While there have been reports that Galatasaray could pursue a permanent move for Osimhen, sources close to the club have dismissed these rumors, citing financial limitations. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old striker is reportedly focused on securing a move to the Premier League and has no long-term plans to remain in Turkey.

Chelsea have already re-established contact with Osimhen’s representatives to gauge his interest in a potential January transfer. Though no official decision has been made, Osimhen remains at the top of Chelsea’s transfer wish list as they closely monitor his situation.

Juventus have also expressed interest in Osimhen as they look for a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic. However, Chelsea’s pursuit will depend on the form of current striker Nicolas Jackson, who has been in fine form this season. Should the Blues seek additional reinforcements, they are also considering RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.

Osimhen has made an immediate impact at Galatasaray, contributing two goals and four assists in his first four appearances. Despite his strong performances, the forward remains eager to return to one of Europe’s top leagues, with the Premier League being his preferred destination.
